What’s on your bucket list? You’ve seen the movies. Perhaps you would like to travel, skydive, or do something else equally outrageous. Fetes that will make you feel that you are alive.
There will always be something that you wish you could do, whether for the first time or to give it a redo. Personally, I would love to revisit the Hawaii Islands or see Michelangelo’s Moses up close, one more time. I probably won’t, but I can remember all the incredible adventures that I have had
Make your memories while you can. Do not wait until your bucket is rusty, or even worse, leaking. Researchers tell us that most people never achieve their bucket dreams because they run out of time and/or funds.
Make your list when you are young, when you can work extra shifts, save your money, and then indulge yourself. Go everywhere. Do everything, before “life happens.” Call it a “life plan” instead of a bucket list. You will never regret it.
We all like to make lists. We thrive on lists. Lists keep us organized, motivated, and goal oriented. If your list includes climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, hiking in New Zealand, sky diving or other physical pursuits, you really need to do them when you are young enough to reap the benefits, and of course handle the consequences.
As a senior you might want to focus on more attainable goals. Mend fences. Atone for past mistakes. Enjoy your family. Learn new things. Focus on mental and physical fitness. Meditate. Senior proof your home. Read more, and above all else remain relevant. No rocking chair for you.
There are many thrilling things to do that do not include putting yourself in peril, or that require more energy that you have these days Seriously just the thought of flying long distances or pursuing sports that make my muscles and bones ache, no longer appeals. Simple, less stressful pursuits sound daunting enough.
We all have a few things that we would like to do while we still can; make them count.
