Now that we are retired, not
that it gives us a monopoly on the market; we have more time to spend with our
pets. Isn’t it grand? I read an article in the Herald this morning
about a new car coming on the market from Honda that is geared especially for
folks that travel with their dogs. It
will emphasize everything from safety features, beds, spill proof water bowls,
washable seat covers, ramps and much much more.
This is a great idea and I wouldn’t be surprised if this idea isn’t a
real winner. For that matter, why didn’t
they come up with a similar idea for traveling with sticky fingered kids?
That article coincides with
another one I read by Robin Daly for The Journal, (a weekly newspaper, on March
2, 2009) about planning your home to accommodate the needs of your pets. She addresses selecting flat tight weave f
fabrics because they are easy to clean, avoiding light colored fabrics because
they soil easily. Leather or a faux
version makes for easy clean-ups. She
discussed the pro’s of hard wood flooring versus carpeting for easy clean up,
slipcovers, owning a portable steam upholstery/carpet cleaner, or for using
professional fabric protection treatments for fine upholstered pieces.
We all like to pretend that our pets don’t
sleep on the coach or have accidents on the carpet but be honest now and go
with the flow. Nearly every home has at
least one pet but with today’s materials and furniture options you can have
your pet and keep your sanity intact at the same time.
